Everest Three High Passes trek, also known as Everest Circuit Trek, is 17 days of a strenuous, yet adventurous hike to the Everest region. Crossing Cho La Pass, Kongma La Pass, and Renjo La Pass with hikes to Kala Patthar and Gokyo Lakes make this best-selling among high-altitude freaks.

Three High Passes on Everest are remnants of eroded glaciers. At over 5,000 metres, crossing Everest's three high Passes, glaciers, Everest base camp trek, and Gokyo lakes trek all make up a common name, Everest Circuit trek.

What are Three High Passes?

Cho La Pass at 5,420 metres, Renjo La Pass at 5,340 metres, and Kongma La Pass at 5,535 metres are generally known as Everest Three High Passes.

Completing these high passes on foot gives the ultimate Everest experience. You'll encounter harsh climatic conditions and a glimpse of the entire Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and more. Further, crossing these high passes makes you physically and mentally confident to climb 6,000 metres of trekkers peak.

Places you will Hike in 20 days Three Passes

Since Everest Three Passes makes the Everest Circuit trek, you'll hike through every known village of Khumbu.

First, you'll land at Lukla and hike to Phakding, Monjo, and Namche. From Namche, you'll trek to Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorak Shep, Everest Base Camp, and Kala Patthar. Thus, you'll first complete the classic Everest trekking route.

From Gorak Shep, you'll trek to Thangnak, Gokyo Lake, and Gokyo valley via Cho La Pass. From Gokyo, you'll climb to Kongma La Pass before making a descent to Thame, home to the heroes of Everest. Thame is home to Tenzing Norgay, the first Everest summiter.

Throughout these settlements, you'll witness the preserved Sherpa culture, their lifestyle, and warm hospitality.

Three Passes - is this trip right for you?

Everest Three Passes are over 5,000 metres in the Himalayas, and the route is rugged. Hence, the Everest Three High Passes Trekking is a strenuous grade trek in the Everest region.

This trek, also known as Everest Circuit Trek, circuits Kala Patthar, Gokyo Lakes, Three High Passes, and several locales of Khumbu. The hikes over these terrains are arduous.

The long hike hours over the steep terrains are tiring. Also, crossing all three passes over 5,000 metres won't be an easy hike. On top, altitude sickness kicks in to make the hike even more strenuous.

But, to make the hike less strenuous, our Everest Three High Passes itinerary has adequate acclimatisation. Further, our trek guides and porters ensure your utmost comfort and safety. This high passes trek is suitable for those trekkers who are physically fit and able to walk in High altitude.

Female solo traveller on the Three Passes Trek

I just returned from my second trekking trip in Nepal organised by Suman at Dream Heaven Adventure.

Last year I did EBC with my husband and we had planned to go to Gokyo as well, but as he wasn't dealing with the altitude too well we were unable to undertake Cho La.  So for me, Gokyo was "unfinished business' and I decided to  return to Nepal to do the Three Passes Trek.

I had no hesitation using Suman's company again to organise my trip. I've never travelled solo before but I felt very comfortable arriving in Kathmandu on my own as I knew that Dream Heaven would organise everything for me including airport transfers, clean accomodation (often with my own bathroom) and a wonderful guide who really knew the area, spoke excellent English and looked after me every step of the way.

I felt totally safe and comfortable throughout the three week trek (yes, I tailored in several extra days to give me the best chance of completing the Three Passes) and once again I can highly recommend Dream Heaven for personalised small group or solo trekking in Nepal.

Everest High Passes Trek, Kathmandu Valley and Pokhara

We spent in Nepal 16 days by trekking in the Himalaya from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and over the Cho-La and Renjo-La Passes. Unfortunately because of the broken ice bridge on the Khumbu Glacier we could not go over the Kongma-La Pass.

After the trek in the mountains we visited the Kathmandu valley with the cities Pathan and Bhaktapur and the city of Pokhara near to the massive of Annapurna to the west of Kathmandu. It was our first trip to Nepal. All our stay in Nepal was perfectly prepared and organised by Dream Heaven Adventure company, which we found by planning our journey in the internet.

We appreciate the managing director Mr. Suman´s endeavour as he fulfilled all our wishes we had had. Especially we thank to our trekking guide Mr. Huparaj for his recommendations and getting the gear before we leaved for the trek and to the both porters, all of them for their help and support in the mountains. We could really rely on them everywhere and each time.

Further we could change our itinerary according to the weather and our condition. Because of the bad weather in Lukla we could not fly back to Kathmandu by plain, so thanks to our guide on the next day we finished our trek by flying helicopter, what a great experience. After coming back to Kathmandu the Dream Heaven Adventure company promptly organised for us our last week in Nepal.

By visiting the Kathmandu valley we will never forget our tour guide Mr. Kumod for his general knowledge of the sites we visited and his enormous desire to show us the most we could manage in the two days.

Also, the fly to Pokhara, the hotel there and the trip back to Kathmandu by car with a short stop in the city of Gorkha was very well organised and for us the next great experience in Nepal.

If you are looking for a reliable company for organising your visit in Nepal we can warmly recommend you the Dream Heaven Adventure company. Our experiences we have made were only positive and we enjoyed our stay in Nepal.

All around Excellent - couldn't ask for better

I trekked the Khumbu 3 passes trail with Gyan as my guide in April/May 2016.
I see that DHA Pvt. Ltd. has nothing but good reviews, so probably this review is redundant, nevertheless ...
Gyan was wonderful as a guide. In addition to being very attentive and reliable, a pleasure to be with and generally very competent on the trail; he seemed to know everybody and everything. As he and his wife are more or less locals, we kept bumping into people he knew which was nice. But more importantly Gyan knows all the fauna and wildlife of the mountains, and thanks to his keen eye and general awareness of nature I got to see a rare Musk dear (I would have walked on by oblivious). He was also able to answer all of my questions like "what is this, why is that, how come ...". He was a mine of valuable local information.
So top marks for Gyan the guide. Really, he was wonderful. And when I return to Nepal I next time, hopefully Gyan is available.
Prior to that at the office, Hari and Suman were very efficient and effective. All was organised within hours of my arrival in Kathmandu. Low stress, high effectiveness - what more is there to ask for?

      Everest Three High Passes Trek

We did our 17 days three high pass trek in Everest with DHA. Our guide Raj was friendly and fun loving, while taking care of every detail with professionalism and experience. At every lodge he made sure we had everything we needed. Our porter was also fantastic. We enjoyed every minute with our guide Raj and porter Neema. I will definitely return to Nepal to do Annapurna Circuit trek and will definitely book with the Dream Heaven Adventure. We enjoyed our trek with a great experience which will never forget and would recommend to anyone!
