If there's one most hiked route in Nepal, it's possibly the Annapurna Circuit trek route. This route extends to the Tibetan plateau from the lowlands of Besisahar. In between, you'll hike through a diverse landscape rich in lush vegetation, alpine terrain, streams, glaciers, and lakes. On top, you'll cross Thorong La Pass, which rises to 5,416 metres with an optional hike to Tilicho Lake and Tilicho Base Camp trek.

Annapurna Circuit trek route is almost 230 km if you avoid road trips and hike to Tilicho Lake. The entire route is entertaining with diverse terrain. As we start from Besisahar, we'll pass the golden rice fields and terrace farming. The route follows the anti-clockwise hike to practice proper acclimatisation and cope with the increased altitude.

Annapurna Circuit Trek- A hike to Himalayan wonders in Western Nepal

Annapurna I, above 8,091 metres, and Annapurna IV, over 7,525 metres, are the pride of Western Nepal, home to Annapurna Sanctuary. The Machhapuchhre, also called fishtail, sits beautifully over 6,993 metres alongside 8,167 metres Dhaulagiri, the 7th highest peak. Many 6,000 metres and 7,000 metres peaks garnish the Annapurna region.

In the recent decade, the road construction from Besisahar to Chame and Manang has reduced the trek days. In addition to comfort, the drive along the cinematic landscape alleviates the trip experience.

Accommodation in Annapurna Round Trek

Altitude sickness and Travel insurance in Annapurna Circuit Trek

Dream Heaven Adventure encourages our valued clients who join Annapurna Circuit Trek in Autumn 2023 to purchase decent travel insurance.

Travel insurance is essential especially when you hike to high altitudes. On top, trekking Annapurna Circuit takes you to the highest place, Thorong La Pass, at 5,416 metres. Besides, you'll hike in places like Yak Kharka at 4,120 metres, Manang at 3,500 metres, etc. These places are prone to altitude sickness. Most trekkers develop minor symptoms of AMS like headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, etc. But for some, the symptoms hit hard and make the situation worse.

Hence, you may need health assistance and emergency helicopter rescue if the situation worsens. In such conditions, to call a helicopter for evacuation, you must have travel insurance that can cover the cost of emergency evacuations.

Our experienced trek guides can take care of your minor injuries. Also, with our well-designed itinerary and proper acclimatisation, you may avoid altitude sickness. Drinking plenty of water, eating nutritious meals, and not drinking caffeinated beverages help to prevent dehydration.

FAQs

  • Q1. Is Annapurna Circuit Trek Difficult?

The Annapurna Circuit route is easy to moderate grade difficulty. In the recent decade, the jeep ride to Manang has reduced the trek days making the trip to Manang sweat-free. It also saves stamina for trekking from Manang to Muktinath and Jomsom.

From Manang, you'll trek to yak Kharka, Thorung Phedi, and Thorong La Pass, which will be arduous due to the trail and long trek hours. Climbing Thorong La Pass can get cumbersome if it's filled with snow. Also, the lengthy stairways en route are tiring.

Prepare yourself mentally and physically for rare situations of snow blizzards and fierce winds. But for rest, the trek is moderate. Even novice trekkers find it easier than trekking to Everest Base Camp.

  • Annapurna circuit trek cost for Indians starts from INR 40,000. This cost varies as you prefer customization in the trek. Also, if your luggage is above the standard weight, you'll have to employ multiple guides. Thus, the cost increases.

However, this trek costs around NPR 40,000 for Nepal nationals.

For foreign nationals, this trek costs USD 1100 or EUR 1000 approximately, the total trip cost depends on the factors you chooosed for the trek.

For the additional cost, you'll have to pay tips for guides and porters. It is a culture among Annapurna trekkers to pay 20% of the total trek cost as a tip to guides and porters.

  • Amidst the four seasons in Nepal, Annapurna Circuit is best in Autumn and Spring. March, April, and May are the best Spring months for this trek. September, October, and November are the most preferred time to hike Annapurna Circuit.

The stable weather, mild temperature, and clear outlook make the sightseeing experience unmatched.

But, some passionate trekkers also prefer the Annapurna Circuit trek during monsoon as this area lies in the rain shadow area. The few drizzles to almost zero rain make the hike undisturbed.

Rhododendron, exotic birds in Spring, the Apple orchards in Jomsom, the vibrant landscape in Autumn, and snow-filled terrain in winter are the best of Annapurna Circuit Trek.

  • Annapurna Circuit trek route is the safest in Nepal. Even the female trekkers hike this circuit without worries. Even if you set out solo for this trek, you'll find countless trekkers en route. You'll never be alone, most of the time.

But, solo trekking becomes risky if you get altitude sickness at higher altitudes. You may not get immediate health attention and emergency rescue on time.

Thus, with a trusted tour agency like Dream Himalayan, you'll be on safe and responsible guidance. Our expert guides with first aid expertise and 24/7 attention help you complete the tour without vital issues.

I trekked the Annapurna Circuit and base camp with Gopal and Dream Heaven. I had a great time, as a solo hiker, it was great to not have to worry about anything and know that someone was looking out for me. It was also very cool to have someone informing me about the mountains and culture as we went along. Would definitely trek with Dream Heaven again!!

    Annapurna Circuit Trekking

Upon checking into Kathmandu, we organized several meetings with tour operators and adventure companies to arrange for a guide for us to hike and trek to the Annapurna Circuit in the Himalayan Mountain. By far, the best operator was Mr. Suman Aryal at Dream Heaven Adventure Company (Email: [email protected] ), Mr. Aryal was polite, courteous, and thorough and speaks fluent English. Within minutes, he arranged to get us organized by getting a fantastic guide ( Kaji Magar) who had numerous treks of both the Annapurna Circuit and the Annapurna Sanctuary, our required hiking permits, and our transportation to and from the beginning and end of the circuit. Everything was done in the highest professional manner and services provide by Dream Heaven and Mr. Aryal was exceptional! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them again to our best hiking and trekking friends.
