Mustang Tiji Festival Trek

It is a special trip to Lo-Manthang Upper Mustang every year for Tiji Festival. Mustang Tiji festival trek will provide cultural and historical along with scenery experience of the for bidden kingdom Mustang. A trek into the kingdom of mustang is an unforgettable experience. Mustang Tiji festival is three day ritual known as “the chasing the demon” and it is centered on the Tiji myth.

The myth tells of a deity named Dorje Jono who must battle against his demon father to save the Kingdom of Mustang from destruction. The demon father weakens on Mustang by creating a water shortage which in this extremely arid land and the most life-sustaining resource. Dorje Jono eventually beats the demon and banishes him from the land.

Tiji is a celebration and reaffirmation of this myth and throughout the festival the various scenes of the myth will be enacted and it is time to coincide with the end of the dry (spring) season  and ushers in the water season.

Day 01: Welcome to Nepal, Tribhuwan International Airport and transferred to hotel

Day 02: Sightseeing tour at Kathmandu Valley, overnight at Kathmandu hotel

Day 03: Flight or drive to Pokhara, 30 minutes by flight and 6-7 hours by bus.

Day 04: Fly to Jomsom from Pokhara and trekking to Kagbeni (2858m) 3-4 hours, overnight at guesthouse/lodge

Day 05: Trekking to chele (3050m) 5-6 hours, overnight at guesthouse/lodge

Day 06: Trekking to Ghiling (3570m) 6-7 hours, overnight at guesthouse/lodge

Day 07: Trekking to Drakmar (3450m) 5-6 hours, overnight at guesthouse/lodge

Day 08: Trekking to Lo-Manthang (3840m) 7-8 hours via Marang-La Pass, overnight at guesthouse/lodge

Day 09: First day of Teji Festival trek at Lo-Manthang (3840m), overnight guesthouse/lodge

Day 10: Second day of  Teji Festival at Lo-Manthang (3840m), overnight at guesthouse/lodge

Day 11: Final day of Teji Festival at Lo-Manthang (3840m), overnight at guesthouse/lodge

Day 12: Trekking to Tsarang (3560m) 3-4 hours, overnight at overnight at guesthouse/lodge

Day 13: Trekking to Syangmochen (3500m) 6-7 hours, overnight at guesthouse/lodge

Day 14: Trekking to Chhusang (2980m) 5-6 hours, overnight at overnight at guesthouse/lodge

Day 15: Trekking back to Jomsom (2720m) 6-7 hours, overnight at overnight at guesthouse/lodge

Day 16: Jomsom Fly back to Pokhara, about 30 minutes flight, overnight at Pokhara hotel

Day 17: Pokhara Fly or drive back to Kathmandu, 30 minutes by flight and 6-7 hours by bus.

Day 18: Transfer to Tribhuwan international airport for your final departure.
